THURSDAY 10/9: the adventure begins.

Hello friends and family!

I'm writing from the safety and comfort of our wonderful guest house in Kempton Park, South Africa. All of your loved ones are safe as well - we didn't lose anyone :)

We spent 18 hours on a plane, so this story doesn't have much of a plot yet. However, this team certainly has a way of making just about anything a crazy, fun adventure. Our flight was fairly uneventful. They keep the lights out on the plane for about 15 of the 18 hours, so we spent much of that time sleeping.... and eating. Everytime we woke up, they were serving us another meal! We had a blast making silly videos (which you may get to see later :)

Here's an amazing fact: we brought over 800 pounds of donations, including vitamins, medical supplies, clothing, school supplies, and gospel literature! What's even more amazing is that all of it got through without the slightest difficulty.  Our entire team went through the airport without being asked a single question, except Pastor Eran who was carrying the medical supplies. The official simply asked what he had in the Rubbermaid container, to which he responded that he was with a missionary team bringing medical supplies. They didn't ask any further questions or even look in the container. That is the favor of God :) Thanks to everyone for your prayers!

Once we got through the airport, we met Willem, our host at the Marben Manor guest house. From there we began shuttling to the manor. I don't think they were ready for all of us and our 84 pieces of luggage! It took 7 trips to get us all back, and on the last trip, 7 of us had to pile into Willem's Mercedes! While we waited, we came up with an exercise schedule for the week (including Yoga-lates, boot camp, cardio, and more!) and made lots of random videos.

Marben Manor is so charming and homey - we love it!

Now it's time for showers and sleep. Tomorrow we fly to Windhoek, Namibia at 1:20PM, and we'll land at 3:20PM. That's when the real adventure begins! Keep us in your prayers.
